About 50% of web users today have a monitor resolution of 1024 by 768 dots, 40% have 800 by 600, 5% have 1280 by 1024, and the other 5% have other sizes.
If your monitor's resolution is set at 1600 by 1200 dots (which a lot of modern laptops default to), your site's pictures might look too tiny to you. However, making them larger to suit you might make them look too large for the majority of your users.
If you're looking at your site with a high resolution monitor, would you rather have pictures that are the right size for you but gigantic for 90% of your site's viewers, or pictures that are a little small for your tastes but the right size for 90% of your site's viewers?
If you still think text or images are too small, we should discuss the options available for making them bigger (like the text size changer at the top right of this page).
