Newsletter from July 7, 2006
Hello!
After a very long nap, I've decided to start up my newsletter once again, and this time really try to keep it going! It'll go out on an irregular basis, whenever I have something to write about that I think you as a website owner would be interested in.
I'll write about software and services that can make your computing life easier, tips for making your website more effective, and plain English explanations of relevant technical topics.
Now, onto the good stuff ...

Perhaps you've tried sending email with large attachments only to have the mail bounce or your internet service provider tell you that it's too large. Perhaps you've tried zipping your large files or sending them in multiple pieces. Well, now there's a great solution for sending attachments up to 1 gigabyte (that's 1024 megs) in size, and it's free. Great for PDF reports.

Google just recently rolled out an online payment service that works similarly to PayPal's Buy Now buttons. And while PayPal charges 2.9% plus 30 cents on each sale, Google Checkout only charges 2% plus 20 cents, or free if you're a big Google AdWords advertiser.
It may be awhile before Google unseats PayPal in the game that PayPal practically invented, but if you have a high PayPal sales volume right now, or if you're planning on selling something on your site, it might be worth it to switch to Google Checkout, or at least offer the Google alternative.
Crunch42 Web Services now offers installation of blogs and email newsletters. These two internet technologies are great for building rapport with your website's users and keeping you in their thoughts (wink, wink), and they can both greatly help with search engine rankings. The only downside is that you'll need to write content on a regular basis -- at least once a month. Email julian@crunch42.com for more information.
Thanks!
