Website Technical Support

Please scan this page to see if your issue is described there, along with a solution. If not, please contact me, and be sure to include as many details as possible including your website name, login information, and specifics about the issue you're experiencing.

  1. Is your website down?
  2. Does one or more pages of your website have an error message?
  3. Is something on the website working improperly, but not giving an error message?
  4. Do you need some work done on your website?

Is your website down?

By "down" this means that when you go to www.yourwebsite.com in your browser, your browser is completely unable to find your website. A browser is a software program such as Internet Explorer or Mozilla Firefox, which you use to access the internet.

Sometimes host servers (the computer your website resides on) or the internet connection between the server and your computer breaks. Rest assured that all this hardware is being monitored by the server tech team and will be fixed ASAP. Often if you find your website is down, if you check back in 30 minutes it will be online again. If this is an isolated incident, you're probably safe ignoring it.

If Crunch42 is not your host, please contact your hosting provider to see if they have more information. If the downtime is longer lasting, it might be worth checking:

1. Has your domain name registration lapsed? You might want to login to your domain name registrar's website (the company you registered your domain name with) and be sure it hasn't. If it has, you should re-register it as quickly as possible. Often reminder emails from the registrar will end up in spam folders. Re-registering a lapsed domain name will often automatically bring back a downed website.

2. Has your hosting lapsed? This would probably only be a possiblity if Crunch42 is not your host. In order to check, login to your host's website or call their sales team.

3. Can you access other websites? If not, then the issue is not with your website but with your computer or internet service. You would need to call your internet service provider or a computer service technician in that case.

Does one or more pages of your website have an error message?

If so, contact me, and be sure to include the exact URL where the problem occured, as well as copying and pasting verbatim any error messages you might be seeing, and also describing what you did that lead up to the error.

If your website uses a third party script (ie phpMyDirectory, WordPress, DigiShop, Joomla), each of these scripts has its own website where you can find manuals and support forums for the use of that script. It would be worth familiarizing yourself with these resources.

Is something on the website working improperly, but not giving an error message?

Please double-check to be sure you didn't mis-type something into the website. If you're sure that it's the website, and not a data entry issue or a configuration setting that you have control over, contact me, and be sure to include the exact URL where the problem occured, a description of the issue, and also describe what you did that lead up to the issue.
